Inspection failed Help

Sam Im Is

NAXJA Forum User
Sooo apparently my reverse lights don't come on when I put her in reverse. This cost me a failed inspection :smsoap: . Replaced the bulbs still nothing. Never had to deal with this problem on any of my other vehicles. Any ideas on what to check next and what could be the culprit. Please help need this inspected and passed ASAP!

I think they are switched on/off by the Nuetral Safety Switch, which can be carefully taken apart and cleaned if not making good contact.

Don't forget to check the fuses!

Maybe someone else will chime in and help out with some more technical info?

Yea fuses are good. I did check those. Where is the neutral safety switch on the XJ? Its a 90. Im pretty good with electrical and have cleaned many a sensor so im sure i can do it, just a matter of finding it.

Its on the pasenger side of the tranny. Do a search in here for NSS clean/removal or something similar. Be very careful taking it off, the palstic housing has a habit of breaking.
Very expensive to buy a new one ($200+), but they can be cleaned to like new condition.
You could try http://www.fordandsons.com in NY. I got one from them delivered for about $25....great deal, they were easy to work with and went out of their way to make certain I got the right part.
