will a 92 manual 2wd tranny swap into a 88 renix manual?

a search was just too much to sort through, but the title says it all, I'm curious if I can put my xfer case from the 88 onto the 92 transmission and install that in my 88. No good reason, just curious, at this point, I don't even know which transmission is which AX or renault etc. any thoughts?

The list for why not is very, very long. If you are just curious and don't really need to know, do some research and find out.

The crappy BA10's cases split down the middle, like an olde VW engine. The AX15 was from 89(IIRC) to 99(IIRC).

To add a TC to the back of the 2wd transmission, you will have to get a new main shaft, the adapter plate, and possibly a few other small things. I wouldnt waste time converting a 2wd tranny to work. My .02.

Putting a transfer case adapter onto a 2WD transmission requires a virtual rebuild, and a 4WD transmission for donor parts. Easier to just get a 4WD box.

ok, thanks for the input, I have a good usable 4WD 5 spd, I just also happen to have a 2WD 5 spd, that I was hang onto "just in case" but it appears it's not worth it, so i'm gonna part with it.
