Do you normally re-use the factory cross shaft when installing the lockright? I thought Dana30 insertable lockers came with a new cross shaft. This is going in my 91' XJ. TIA.

You can use the stock shaft, but it is not recommend.

I bought a hardened pin. IIRC, in the install book it says warranty is void if a "soft" pin is used. I got it from Randys R&P for around $30.

FWIW, my 8.8 stock center pin is hardened.

I reused my cross shaft. In the instructions is said if you can't scratch it with a file then you have a hardened shaft. If I did scratch it I think I would have gotten one though.

Of course mine is an after market gears and deferential case less than a year old.
