fuel rail electrical connectors wont come off

i cant figure out how to disconect the electrical connectors from the intake manifold to the fuel rail, it a 93 4.0. is there a trick to this?

If you look, you'll see a wire that almost fully encircles the connector. This is the retainer, and can be difficult.

I find it easiest to just use a dentist's pick to get under that wire, and lift it over the knob on the injector housing. Just a little "pull up," and the connector should pull off easily.

Once again, this serves to explain why I've got a drawer with a batch of dental and surgical instruments in it - they do come in handy from time to time...
