I'm going from a standard four wire blade to a seven wire plug.
What would the yellow on the four wire be for?

blue should be for reverse. Some trailers especially new ones ith surge brakes have a solenoid that relieves brake pressure when backin a trailler up This prevents the brakes from actuating while in reverse
