d30 outer - tone wheel

i accidentally messed up my drivers side d30 outer shaft.

i was changing a u-joint and i chipped off a half-inch chunk of tone wheel...

...jeep is my only vehicle, so heres the question.

A.) what is the quickest way to get a new outer to come to me

B.) could i temporarily reinstall the outer with the damaged tone wheel

the tone wheel isnt distorted other than the missing chunk..

..i theorized that reinstalling the damaged outer would just make my abs light come on, as it would be registering a funny sort of wheel speed as the magnet in the sensor generates the AC signal from the gap in the toine wheel..

but would this affect the way my jeep would drive, or just the ABS functionality?

it wont hurt anything i would pull the fuse out of the abs to prevent it from activateing till you can get a new tone ring
I don't think it will activate, Im pretty sure it will just kick an abs code and shut the system down.

X2, I ran with only one tone ring for a while, and thats what happened..

update:

i re-installed the outer shaft with the 'gap' in the tone wheel.
at low speeds, the braking system functions normally.
however, any speed over 15 mph seems to trigger the abs system to engage.

the wheel speed sensor is basically a proximity-based magnet.
it registers on each 'tooth' of the tone wheel.
the wheel speed sensor is trying to read 'on-off-on-off-on-off.....'
but its getting on-off-on-ooooooooofffffffffffff-on-off-on-off

this gap sends the same data as if your wheel were to lock up on ice.
that is, a consistant signal rather than the expected alternating pattern.

i am just going to pull the under-hood abs relay for now...

The tone wheel is just pressed on. Depending on where the damage is, you might be able to push it in or out to get a clean circle riding under the sensor. The number of teeth on the wheel may depend on the year, too, as I noticed there were different numbers of teeth on an 89XJ versus a 93ZJ. I'm not sure if you can order just the wheel and press it on either.
