New carrier old spiders?

i am regearing to 4.56's and obviously have to get a new carrier, but my question is can i use the old spider gears, or do i have to get a loaded carrier.... and no i'm not putting a locker in it, cause i will do some snow driving, and cannot afford a selectable at this time.
