Stupid Newb Question

Hey this question might be totaly retarded but a couple of my wheeling buddies who don't drive XJs and have manual locking hubs noticed that my front drive shaft is spinning in 2WD. I just wanted to make sure that this was normal behaviour for an Automatic XJ (1995 Sport), np231j Tcase. Figured better ask than assume everything is working normaly. I have not dug into the workings of the automatics hub system.\

yup normal, you have no way of disconecting it from the front tires so if it wasnt spinning id be worried

We don't have an automatic hub system; we have a lack of hubs.

x2. if we had hubs, then it wouldnt spin but since XJs dont by default, it must spin. since theres no way to disengage

Yup normal behavior. The XJ does not have auto locking hubs. The 4wd system is engaged in the transfer case when you shift from 2H into 4H.
