aux. power plug on 97+

Is power always on to this plug? I just mounted my streamlight charger to the pass. side trans hump. When I tucked away the wires and plugged it in, the charging light came on. On my old 96, it would only come on when there was power to the vehicle. I don't want to kill my battery with a flashlight.

Yes, it is always on, if you only want it to chage when the key is on use the cig lighter plug, thats key operated.

Unless you leave it for a year, I don't think charging a flashlight is gonna kill your battery.

I think that that Streamlight WILL kill a battery if left long enough (depends on which model). I THINK the aux in my '01 only comes on with the ignition, I have a flashlight in mine as well.

I'd just hardwire it into some circuit that's only hot when the ignition is "on."

Leave the aux outlet available for something else like a phone charger, etc....

Sounds like your flashlight mount is permanent. So why not make the power permanent too?
