Anyone have one? I cannot for the life of me remember where i was reading about them (was a couple of years ago now) but I remember it being said that it's not to difficult to fab up your own.

So, Anyone run one? Seems like it's not a bad idea, assuming most engine wear is done at start-up. If anyone has any ideas/comments/concerns, share them please. If it's feasible, I might do it in the future, right now it's in the "Pipe dreams" section of my mods.

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section of the forums.

The only place I have seen them was on large diesel engines. They had an external oil pump that was run by an electric motor. When you operated the switch to start the motor the oil pump will run until the oil reached a pre set pressure. Then a switch will close to engage the starting motor. How practical on a small disposable engine? :dunno:

lambros have them factory, oil is stored in an accumulator, 3 or 4 quarts that when the key is turned on it releases, start engine and it fills back up till next time. Here is an electrical one that might fit better than trying to find a place to put a cannister. Amsoil also makes one.

or you could get yourself a renix era jeep.

the renix computr wont fire till 300 rpm. in practice this gives your engine a couple seconds to get oil throughout before dealing with combustion pressures. i hae no idea if that was the intent, but it does work out. I have three renix era jeeps, all with over 200k on them, all with good compression and no unpleasant valvetrain noise.
