dana 30 compatability

After discovering that the stock d30 housing, shafts, and all of the stock steering parts are destroyed on my 1998 xj i have been looking for replacement parts. I need to know if the d30 and steering parts off of a 1992 xj will work, i found a complete front end including coil springs etc. I have an automatic tranny, 3" lift.

It will work, however the shafts/joints are stronger in the 98 axle.

Jess has it right. Move the axle shafts from your 98 into the 92 housing and run with it.

If its a 92, it will probably need new ball joints and unit bearings too..

I dont know about the 92 but knuckles on the 88 are different from a 95 and will not accept the brake calibers from the the 95. I reused the 88 calipiers, so I am not sure if the knuckles will swap over so you can use your new calipers. Just a word of warning that all might not be so rosie!
