Temp sensor

There are 3 temp sensors on the 90. One is the switch in the radiator for the electric fan. The ECU gets an analog signal from a sensor in the block under the intake manifold. The sensor for the gauge is near the left rear corner of the cylinder head.

The HO engines have a temp sensor for the gauge and ECU in the thermostat housing.

I'm looking to install a temp gauge in my 1990 xj. I Haynes says its in the thermostat house but its not. Were can i find it?

Now you know why I use my Haynes manual to even up a workbench...

Fred's description is spot on - and he beat me to it. Figure out what isn't working, and you'll know which one you need to replace.
