seperating front driveshaft

the zerk on the front stock driveshaft is quite clogged, and I'm fairly certain that inside the shaft is bone-dry. I want to open the shaft up to clean out the old dried grease, should I just claim one end into a vise and yank on the other end? that's what I'm planning on doing, just wanted to see if there is anything I should know about before I do that.

Before you pull the shaft, remove the zerk fitting and clean it. See if it'll take grease after that. Could save you some work.

exactly what I wanted to know. :)

I've already removed the zerk fitting, it's clogged all the way through. I'm gonna replace it with a new fitting, I just wanted to clean out the shaft too.
