Leak from adaptor housing (92xj, 5spd, np231)

I have an odd leak; maybe someone has run across this:

92xj, 5spd (AX15), np231
I have a leak from the adaptor housing which is draining off around 1oz of gear oil every three weeks through the weep hole. I have replaced the adaptor housing seal, which appeared to remedy the for a while- but it has started doing it again.
The transfer case input shaft surface was in excellent condition, and the seal was coted with gear oil prior to re-assembly.
The AX15 has all new bearings.

where is this adapter housing?? Not really sure what you are talking about

On a 4wd, it is the section beween the transmission and the transfer case. The enclosing volume of the adapter housing is made by the rear of the transmission. There should be no lubricant in this area.
