Steel Whip losing its flexability from being tied down?

Just curious, Recently purchased a 102" real steel whip and mounted it above the PS tail light.

I ran a piece of thin nylon from the whip to my light bar to keep it from flapping around. Just wondering if this will damage the whip if I leave it tied at a 45 degree angle while not transmitting.
