spray paint on shocks

I was trimming my fenders and then painted the edge with spray paint clear coat. I got some over spray on the polished shock post/shaft. Just a little, I wiped it off as soon as I noticed. I didnt even think about this. Could this be bad?, Cause any damage? Thanks in advance, Morgan.

I don't think it will be much more harmfull than the dirt and mud that gets built up on shocks..

Nah it wont do anything. The paint would have just been peeled back once the shock was compressed since the fit between the shaft and the housing is so tight. It holds fluid under pressure.... its all good!!

Most likely it's going to deteriate the seal and cause the shock to fail... sorry...
