HP DANA 44 castings?

They look like they are welded to the knuckles. It is probably around a 1978 axle. I want to remove them, I know it is a lot of work but so be it. Are the knuckles welded to the tube underneath these castings or when I cut through will the knuckle be loose? Just worried because I want to keep the caster and leave them intact. I realise that I will have to cut all the way around the knuckle, just looking for some advice.

78 and 79 are cast, there is no tube there.
