Auto or Manual?

Im 98 4.0 Auto 4.56's and 285x75x16's and average about 18.5 with a 60/40 highway/city driving.... All highway and I get close to 20 or so...

I got that exact setup 99 4.0/aw4/4.56s/33s and get 15-18mpg depending on city or hwy and how fast.

cruising at 70-75 mph is gonna suck some juice.
The faster you go, the more power it takes to make you go faster - ie. it takes more power to go from 65 to 70 than it does from 50 to 55.

Yep, I generally cruise on the highway between 65-70.. I have a K&N but it's probably not helping much. My jeep also has 83k on the clock and gets regular maintenance. I think with some AT's I could get into the 20 mpg range...

I used to have that set-up, averaged 17-18 in town and 20+ on the highway, I was also spinnin' 2900 rpms at 75mph+, the 4.0L loves the high rpms for cruisin'. Though they did change the set-up in 99 compared to my 98 so who knows. But I bet you'll get high teens out of that set-up.

I have a stock 99 with a manual and 115k miles. Very little highway and I get around 19mpg. Trailrunner, remember we live in Colorado, we are going to get worse milage because of the altitude. Up north where I live, there are alot of hills as well.

About to go back to 35s so my 15-18mpg is going to be like 12-16mpg.
