NP231 bent range fork=more problems?

My tcase has been popping a lot when accelerating hard on ice. I thought it was just the chain being streched but the mainshaft sprocket and the front output shaft teeth were all worn down along with the chain being streched. I picked up a new front output shaft with good teeth and happened to have my range fork with me. The guy at the shop thought that the range fork was bent and thought that was the root of the problem. Anyone else had this happen, where the range fork gets bent then that messes up other things?
