Probably not for you. You want one out of an Explorer with disc brakes, etc. The F150 unit would be wider and the attractive ease of conversion lost.
 
Yes. It's a bit shorter than your current axle but one most are looking to swap into their rigs due to availability. That shortness issue can be corrected by the Superior kit John sells. Totally worth it in my opinion.

edit I just read MT's post, I skipped the fact that it was from an F150. That could be adjusted with no backspacing on your wheels :)

Yeah I know its going to be wider. Does anyone know by how much?
 
I thought all 8.8's were third member units?

Nope! 8.8s do not have a separate third member.
