OX locker (Problem)

I have an OX locker installed in a d30 at the front of an 87 XJ 4.0l AW4.

The shifter cable melted causing the locker to not disengage.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

I am guessing the cable hit the exhaust or got too close. Get a new cable and put it in a safer spot, then make sure you tie strap it where you can.

I would look into using the same heat wrap that is used on the axle vent tube.

When you replace the cable, slip a lenght of radiator hose over it...THEN tie it securely out of the hot zone.
