mountain bike saddle bags

Wuz up fellas, i'm starting to ride again and need some advice. i'm riding to school and work just wondering if any of u used saddle bags. i'm looking for something that can hold my books and is removable so it doesnt get stolen.

All saddle bags are removable.

Actually you would need to get quality bags in order to handle full time transport of heavy school books. Some of those better panniers can be quite expensive and the cheaper ones don't hold up well to heavy items such as books.

THe basket comments above would be better but on the side of a rear rack would be best. This is a Wald folding basket that retails around $20-25/each side that will do the job really well and they fold up flat when not in use. They can take some good weight too.
