temp guage?

hey guys my temp guage isnt working on my 95 auto 6cy. my mechanic was told there is 2 sensors with one being in the block, which he cant find and the other had something to do with fans. ? is there a sensor in the block. any help would be great.

It's at the very back of the cylinder head to the drivers side.
