I was thinking about adding towhooks to the front of my XJ and I was wondering if anyone made a D-Ring setup that hooks up like towhooks do?

Why? Just because I was wondering.:dunno:

That looks pretty quality. Detours makes good stuff based on everything I've read.
I can vouch for the backbone, quite happy with it, it's thought out and built good and strong.

Custon 4x4 used to make some that bolted in place of the tow hooks on thier mounts. They looked like Rusty's mounts but had 2 holes instead of 3. The backbone set-up looks like the best solution.

I prefer d-rings to hooks since they hold the strap on safely. I hate having to get back out to rehook a strap because it slipped off.

I've had towhooks slide 1/2 way off, then when tension is put back on them they puncture a hole in the loop.

D-Rings yay!

Custom 4x4 makes a set that mount up like the towhooks to, as TNT mentioned, but the only list the hook version on their site. You might have to call for the D-Ring version.

A customer sent me this picture of his Warrior bumper so I could use it for my Catalog, and it had the C4x4 brackets under it, so you can see how they'd look, even if your bumper is stock they'll sit about the same spot.

Awesome guys, thanks for the responses!!

I don't think you can use a stock bumper with this setup?

It looks like there is a lot more to that kit than just putting on tow hooks/D-rings, plus it is $265. For that price I might as well buy a new bumper with the D-Rings on it.

You can retain the stock bumper if you want,I never, read the installation instructions on the detours site, it is a little more than a couple tow hooks, the thing that sold me was mark from detours said he has seen xj's completely hanging from the backbone.

That things designed for use with the stock bumper.

I think you've got a sharp idea just heading to a new bumper tho.
