Ok whats the real deal on chevy np231 wide chain an 6 gear unit

I am going to take apart my 231 jeep transfercase to install a sye an was pokin around at some wide chain deals an it is unclear to me if i can get a chevy s 10 transfercase an use the 6 gear unit the gear the wide chain and the front out put shaft/yoke?????????????
