STARTER MOTOR- WEATHER/WATERPROOF)

Does anyone recommend sealing the starter motor seams and wiring with silicone?? Will it hurt or overheat anything?? My starter just went due to a really big puddle and I have a new bosch one I'm going to install. Thanks!:repair:

A mechanic just told me it is a better idea to make the drain bigger and silicone just the solenoid as water will always get water in it no matter what

Maybe it wasn't the big puddle then, but is was submerged for a few minutes and it started to draw almost 400amps near the end.

Sounds like it was time. My factory starter went 6 years....my Mean Green is going on 10. That includes many a time totally submerged in muddy water.

I would replace it, and move on. Any waterproofing will just hold the water in and hasten the corrosion.
