Rear bump stop idea, what do you think?

I found an idea for some rear bump stop that I would like some feedback on.
What I saw was a peice of steel that was probably 1 1/2" by 6" or so, and it was welded on the spring clamp between the ubolts.
I'll see if I can post a pic thay explains this. The steel didn't look very thick maybe 3/16 if that.
Who thinks this would work or should it be thicker so it wouldn't bend?
Could even use I Beam I guess if you could find it.

This isn't a new idea, these products are already manufactured and made, so if you don't have any access to welding supplies, you can just buy them and bolt them right on. I'll try to find the link for you.

Scroll down, its the second one on the page.

I would go a little thicker than 3/16. I like to have it beefier than would needed, but it would kind of suck if you finished welding them up, installed, then went to flex and found out you have to take it all back off again and do the whole process over cause it bent.

Check out DPG's set up. I run a set of his plates and have had no problems with them at 7" of lift and 35's. I know a lot of us around here like to build our own stuff (for pride and money savings), but I don't think you could build these any cheaper when you figure in a hassle cost of cutting, drilling, and R&D time to DIY.
Dirk is a straight up guy, and his company is one of the best you can do business with.

Here's what I ended up with.
It's just 1/2" plate cut with holes drilled in the right spots.:D
