I am thinking of buying a later model XJ than my 1994, and I would be using it solely for a DD/Wintertime vehicle. What years are best and what and how should I look for? I understand the 99s have the over all best setups, but how do you know how many splines the axles have, or what should I do to make it better? Let me know too what to stay away from and why. Thanks

Jeff

I have a '99 Cherokee Classic and I love it! It's a great vehicle and as of yet, I've had no problems. As far as splines go, the mid year '96 to '01 have the 29 spline in the 8.25 if that's the rear diff you get. It's much stronger than the 27 spline 8.25 and the D35. Look for a '99 with the Chrysler 8.25, you won't be disappointed!

Love my 99' and 96'
