Steering shafts..what years will fit my '93 XJ?

I need a new lower steering shaft for my '93 XJ,and am unsure what years will fit it..I heard Jeep changed sometime in the '90's,and that some years will fit and others wont..Can anybody help? Thanks...John

I'm pretty sure that the change came in 97. I know that 89 and 95 are interchangeable, having done it, and that the 89 was compatible at least as far back as 87, if not all the way back to 84. I'm almost a hundred percent positive that 96 is also the early type, and that 97-up will not fit.
