dana 20 transfer case puzzle..

Have limited reference material and no manual on rebuilding my transfer case and have taken the ole Dana 20 transfer case apart to install some different gears and seals and in the process of putting the unit back together I have gotten the two different lengths of rear and front drive shift rails confused-I have one shift rail that is longer than the other-Does anyone know which one is the front drive shift rail or does it matter ?-TIA

.third party sale of used gears for the Dana 20 transfer case and can't/have'nt been able to locate/find information on this particular question this weekend-Again any "gear-heads" out there know if there is any way to tell which Dana 20 the shorter or longer length drive-shift rail is for the front or rear or does it make any difference?-TIA
