1998 XJ elecrtric fan cycling constantly.

The electric fan cycles on an off all of the time, maybe in 10 second intervals, and even at absolute cold start up. If I turn the heater off completely, it will stop cycling. Is this normal ?

Yes thats normal with defrost.

mine does it to in defrost when the compressor runs! i got a 99.

I noticed mine was doing this too, and my wife said, "Your defroster is on." I said, "It does that?" And She said "Yup."

Any of the positions that the HVAC is set to with the A/C compressor running will run the electric fan.

I thought my fan clutch was dieing so i changed it till i read the book about hte fan turning on
