Nutstrip Bolt Size

I'm going to be installing a gas tank skid & hitch, and I'm looking for the right sized bolt for the nutstrip. I know they are M12 x 1.75, but how long should they be?

40 mm. which is 1.579 inches. That's according to the '97-'99 F.S.M.

i bought that same grade bolts, 1 3/4" long. Worked perfect just installed my hitch and skid last week. Remember to install your spacers for your skid if they come with your hitch! I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the bolts to line up after I installed the hitch, everything was binding. Then I decided to read the instructions, who would have thought LOL

Spacers for the skid? I don't have any spacers, are you talking about placing washers at the front of the nutstip in this post:

yep that exactly, just use washers if spacers weren't included! Just stack as many washers as it takes to match the thickness of the hitch mount.
