Will a stock transfer case skid from a 2001 mount right up on a 1996?

it should. Either you'll need to fish out the nutstrip or get some self-tappers to tap it into the uniframe rail.

Use nutcerts on the frame rail end. 1/2 in. outside diameter.

XJ Front skids and T-case skids fit on all XJ's. Gas tank skids fit either 1984 to 1996 or 1997 to 2001 ( unless you make some modifications to the skid ).

Nutserts Suck with out the proper tool. Just a word of warning.

I have never used any nutcerts, but putting on my hitch was really no trouble even having to fish the bolt through the holes. A little patience goes a long way.
