Brake fluid leak when changing front brake?

When you retract the caliper piston this forces fluid back into master cylinder causing it to overflow. Usual advice is to use a turkey baster or similar to take some fluid out of the reservoir before working on the calipers to prevent this.

Its a bad idea to push the piston back into the caliper and force fluid back into the master especially on older higher miler rigs. Just think of all the old burnt and dirty brake fluid your pushing back up there. A good way to do it is use a brake hose clamp and clamp your flex line closed, open the bleeder and then push the piston back, make sure you have a hose attached to the bleeder or have it aimed at your used oil container to avoid a mess. You don't even need to bleed the system after. just a little advise
