has anyone converted their steering box to hydro assist? I am interested in doing so I heard you can brill and tap your gear box and come up with fittings and hoses from a local place that carries that stuff and buy a ram from tractor supply. I want to try this with my old steering box if it works I'm going to buy a new box.
ps I have allready check out redneck ram's stuff but I'm thinking bugget boost.

Way better pics of the drilling/tapping.

And as a slight note, after I did mine I really wasn't happy with the placement of the fittings. I think that the standard way of tapping it (as is shown in the picture) is moronic. There's not much depth to the lower hole and you have to be careful not to drill/tap it too deep or the fitting you thread into it will actually block the fluid passage.

But, WTH, it does work. Hasn't wrecked itself yet.

Oh, I used a tractor supply ram. And EVERYONE is going to hate my choice of length(it was on sale). She's a 10x1.5x1 IIRC. And no, I haven't broken a steering knuckle yet!
