Overhead console advanced features wiring

before i get my head bit off for the seach button...i've tired. everything ive found basically spells out how to wire the compass, lights, temp sensor, and some cover the keyless. However, im kinda curious about the other features like the MPG and the distance to empty.....has anyone wire up that to work? thanks for your help

It depends on what year vehicle you're trying to put the console in. The 97+ that have all those extra features ties into the computer to get information like rate of fuel consumption and vehicle speed.

Total speculation on my part is that the plugs for the console are either in the A pillar or under the dash on the later trucks, but the earlier trucks don't have the necessary outputs from the engine computer to make it work.
