94 XJ..front door problems

1. Exterior door handle you have to push the button sooooo far in and it make a scraping noise then door opens.

2. Interior door hand has like no spring tension, just lots of play...but still opens door.

3. Sometimes door wont close. Latch wont move and bangs against striker.

What all is needed to fix this?

check the hinges, they are the most likely culprit. the spring is broken on the inside handle, it's easy to replace.check the hinges by lifting up on the bottom rear corner of the door & checking for slop.there are different problems with the hinges that have been covered in previous threads. if it's not the hinges look for problems in the latch and/or striker. find out what your problem is & get back to us.while you are at it look at the check strap, it may have been damaged.
