Oil pan for a 4.5 stroker

hey, im building a 4.5 stroker for my 1990 Jeep XJ (2" lift 31s soon to be 4" with coil all four corners) and im not sure witch oil pan i should use the one off the 258 or the one off the 242? All im doing is taking the bottom end out of the 258 and putting it in the 242. thanks guys

I used my old 4.0 oil pan, seems to be workign fine

I used my 4.0L pan.

The 4.0L oil pan is fine as long as you use the stock oil pump. If you use a high volume oil pump, some 4.0 pans need to be "massaged" to clear the oil pump body so you could avoid that by going for the 4.2 pan.

used 4.0 oil pump and pan on 4.7 stroker. no problems
