'97 XJ Gas Tank Skid

The stroker is done, so time for a gas tank skid. I got sick and tired of coming up empty at the pull & save and stock gas tank skids aren't that stout, so....
Start with some steel.

A little welding, and a few coats of rattle-can topcoat and you end up with this...

what thickness steel did you use?? how strong is it in the center of the large flat section??? as a guy running very little (to no) lift, i'd like to protect my tank!!!

It's made from 11ga steel, or 1/8".

I'm not to worried about it bending a little, I'm more concerned about ripping a hole in the plastic tank.

I'd have to make a few to make it worth the time and materials. Gotta check on some bulk steel prices and I'll let you know. Steel ain't as cheap as ain't used to be.

i understand but if you have access and materials to make it i might as well ask... and your skid looks pretty stout. i like it.

I'll try to get back to you this week, depending on my schedule and the weather around here. I'm in the HVAC biz so my schedule is never set in stone.
