I have a 96 4.0 with the sealed Master/Salve cylinder assembly. I ran into a problem in september I dropped and checked the clutch and everything was fine. I replaced the sealed assembly and everything was fine afterwards. perfect pedal. This morning I started the jeep and it wouldnt go into gear. so I shut it off and tried starting it in first still no luck. The truck has been in south carolina from 96k-216k. I have bought it up here in the summer where the jeep say only in warm weather. would the clutch seeing its first snow be a issue. the clutch didn't act up at all and still had normal pedal like 6 hours before this happened. Any ideas?

I am guessing the clutch just decided to quit all at once. The assembly doesnt have a leak and is sealed leaving no reason to add fluid.

Ummm

You stated you could not start it in 1st.

Does that mean it would not shift into 1st with the engine off?

If it did not shift with the engine off....it ain't the clutch.
