BA-10 trans fluid

I just opened up my tranny while trying to diagnose a back up light problem, and the fluid inside my BA-10 looks sort of like a really bad chocolate milkshake??!!!! I'm not expecting a lot out of this tranny, but what can I do to help my chances? What fluid do I use?

Use a 75W90 grade gear oil, GL5. I've got over 200K on mine. Still going strong.

Bad milkshake, is more and likley water mixing in. You can use any 75w-90, as those tranny's dont use any bronze in them.

we had a really bad shifting ba-10, and the gear oil looked like it had water in it. good quality semi synthetic helped the shifting considerably. Any time you have been in water, there is a possibility of getting water into the trans. worth checking the oil in my opinion
