Quick ? about BA10 to AX15 Swap (yes i searched)

Alright, i have an 87 cherokee and im swapping out the BA10/5 for an AX15. The donor vehicle is a 1995 cherokee. I am also swapping the NP231 out since the spline counts are different.


Question, how do i go about hooking up the speedo cable? How does the speedo cable hook up on newer vehicles? Is it done electronically?

I'm not positive, but I think the whole speedometer assembly from your '87 NP231 will fit into the '95 NP231. Just "plug and play". Look at the tail housing of each, they should be the same. I believe at some point a different, shorter speedometer assembly was used, meaning the '89 assembly would be too long. You'll have to compare the '89 to the '95 to determine if they will swap.
