Back up lights

I have a 1990 XJ with an automatic tranny. Apparantlyl my reverse lights are not working. The bulbs are good, but I don't know where the rest of the hardware is located. Can you guys point me in the right areas so I can check the connections?

sounds like your neutral safety switch is out of alignment

Mine like to be picky about working or not.

Your Neutral Safety Switch could use some adjusting or a good cleaning.

Is this the kind of alignement you do the to the guy at work who just can't get right, or does it require a bit more finess?

Do a search for the neutral safety switch (NSS). There's a good write-up out there that explains it step-by-step. It's not difficult and does not take a long time. Cleaning the NSS yourself will save big $$ over replacing the switch, or worst yet having the dealership do the whole job for you.
