aw-4 tranny problem...

i have an 1989 laredo 4ltr with the aw-4 auto tranny. tranny shifts fine through all gears etc. but acts like it wants to slip or kicking into neutral. under power it holds whatever gear its in but leveling out at a consitant speed it acts like slipping etc. when it does this giving a little gas will get it to grab. fluid not bad and it don't leak, also shifts fine and won't do it in first and second. mostly does it going through town doing 25-35 mph and some at 55mph..????

The usual culprit for odd shifting is the TPS sensor. If your's is still the original, it's even more likely. Do a quick search on TPS and you'll find tons of info on checking it. Also check the transmission cable to make sure it's properly adjusted.
