8.25 brake install

anybody got a writeup on a 8.25 brake install . got the brakes in just the self adjuster is way to low for some reason.pics would be helpful
 
I don't have good pics (the ones in the FSM are little help except to make sure that you haven't left any parts on the ground), but some things to look out for.

First of all, if you got the adjuster cable for the wrong brakes, it will never work. Make sure they gave you the cable for 9 inch brakes, not 10.

SEcond, make sure that the little crescent-shaped pivot that the cable goes over on the shoe is all the way into the hole in the shoe, so that the pivot is resting flat against the shoe, and actually pivoting. When you put the spring in over it, it's easy for it to fall a bit out of the hole. The spring will still hold it in, but it won't be in properly. The design is pretty poor, and the boss on the back of the pivot is very shallow. Once it's in correctly the spring should hold it right, but, like most parts of these brakes, it's about as cheap and nasty as they could get away with. If the pivot is out of its hole, I don't think there's an easy way to get it back in right without unhooking the spring and trying again.
