anybody ever gravity bleed the brakes on an xj? how did it work? I have done it on my 1978 ford truck before, and it worked good. I need to get it done tonight, don't have a partner and don't have a one man bleeder. I only need to bleed the fronts. thanks,Ben

I bleed mine that way because it was on a lift. It worked for me.

How long does it take?

You can bleed them yourself. Just take a small clear bottle and clean it out good, pour in some brake fluid in it, then run some small clear tubing from the bleeder down into the bottom of the bottle and make sure that the tubing stays in the fluid.

Open the bleeder and bleed that brake untill there are no air bubbles coming out of the tubing. Tighten the bleeder screw and move on to the next brake and repeat the process.

Just empty the bottle and refill with some clean fluid every so often.

I've been doing my brakes this way for years, no problems.
