Hey guys,
87 XJ 4 door, 4x4, auto, 4.0, D30 front, D35 Rear.

I have a broken ujoint on the passenger outer cv shaft. I need to get it out tonight to compare with a local parts house replacement.

Do I have to pull the vacuum accuator to remove just the outer shaft with Ujoint?

I will be doing a complete rebuild of the front axle in about 6 weeks, but right now need to get the broken ujoint replaced!

Thanks! :)

You shouldn't if you are pulling apart the u joint and taking the outer shaft.

Ok, thanks. It came apart in about 20 minutes!! Thank goodness I replaced that sides bearing hub assembly a year or so ago and greased the contact points between the bearing assembly and the spindle!!

The shaft came right out, ended up just replacing the bearing as Advance Auto's replacement cv shaft/joint unit was for a different axle than the vacuum disconnect as I have...go figure...
