Went to replace the driver's side speaker the other day and found a big build sheet with a bunch of numbers taped to the inside of the door panel.
Is that the norm or?

Nope mine on my 85 was under the torx bolt that holds the seat belt receptacle under the rear seat.

I think they dropped that later. I had it on the 87, but I never found one in the 93 and 95.

As I recall, many of the codes on the 87 were undecipherable, but some, including axle ratios, were clear. A long time ago someone on the XJ forum that predated this one had a page with some of the codes deciphered, but I doubt it still exists.
