at what size lift do I need a new trac bar?

I have searched several lift threads,but can't find a definite answer. Is there a general rule for how much lift is allowed before a new trac bar will be needed? thanks,Ben

I dont know if there is a general rule but I think as soon as you break 4.5" you either need an adjustable or to drill out the mount

It will depend on your XJ. I had to get an adj tracbar to cure some handling issues when I lifted to 3 inches .

depending on what type of ride quility you want anything 3.5 or higher
you can drill out the lower mount for 3.5(AS per RE instructions for the 3.5) but i found it had some bump steer so i went with an adjustable

I've figured that 3" of lift is about the limit for a stock trackbar. Anything over that needs a longer trackbar to keep the axle centered.
