Temp flux

I just installed a new cluster with gauges instead of idiot lights. I changed out the sending units. I got the temp sending unit from auto zone. Onthe way to work today I noticed the the temp gauge would flux from 208 to about 220. I dont think the engine will fluxuate(sp) that much. Im thinking that its a bad sender. What do yall think???

Sure you got the sender for a gauge an not a idiot light ?

Ya Im sure I looked at the screen when the guy pulled up the part number. Also it fluxates that much in 30sec -1 min time frame.

Also I do no interstate driving on the way to work. About 10-15 mins one way in reguler traffic, not really stop in go and running around 55 most the time

You might want to check the thermostat and the fan clutch. A bad sender is possible, but often when that's the problem it will jump more abruptly. I've seen thermostats behave that way, though.

can I check the thermostat with out taking it out?
